“I roundup my doctoral program with a final recital that consists entirely of Nigerian art music, the first of its kind to take place in the US.” Those were the words of the beautifully talented Nigerian soprano opera singer Agatha Ibeazor Holland while announcing the culmination of her doctorate program.
Speaking further, Agatha said “I believe that this is a perfect ending to my 9-year academic journey as I sing in languages that I TRULY understand in a genre that has defined most of my life.”
AGATHA HOLLAND’S EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY
Agatha Holland started her musical education journey at the MUSON School of Music, Onikan, Lagos in 2007 where she bagged an Associate Diploma is Vocal Music Performance.
In 2011, she enrolled at Truman State University for her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Performance. She graduated in 2014.
In 2015, Agatha enrolled for her Masters of Arts (M.A) in Music Performance from the University of Central Missouri. She graduated in 2017.
On completion of her Master Degree in 2017, she proceeded for a Doctorate program at the West Virginia University under the tutelage of Dr. Hope Koehler.
Agatha is a member of the Music Honor Society of America (Pi Kappa Lambda). She is also a recipient of the W.E.B Dubois research fellowship award at West Virginia University.
AGATHA IBEAZOR HOLLAND FINAL YEAR RECITAL
The final recital concert for Agatha Holland will be online. This concert will be live streamed on YouTube on Saturday, Nov. 8th at 8pm EST. Nigerian time is Nov. 9th at 2am.
As noted earlier, Agathat will be singing musical compositions from Nigerian Art Composers at the final recital. She stated that she would be singing in languages (Nigerian languages) that she truly understood in a genre that has defined most of her life.
