The Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) in conjunction with MTN Foundation (MTNF) has announced the opening of application for the MTNF/MUSON Diploma programme for the 2019/2020 academic year.
With the 2018/2019 graduation concert done and dusted, the 2019/2020 diploma course which will be the 13th edition of the MTNF-sponsored diploma school, is to commence in September 2019. As it has been with previous years, it is expected to be characterized with strict selection process.
1. Qualifying Examination
All applicants are expected to take part and pass a qualifying examination. The qualifying examination for shortlisted candidates will take place from 21st to September 2nd 2019. The examination will be in three parts;
a. A grade 5 standard written examination in music theory and general music knowledge
b. A grade 5 standard audition on major music instrument before a faculty jury.
c. An aural interview
All applicants are expected to possess a minimum academic qualification of GCE with at least 5 credit passes including English or its SSCE equivalent. In addition to this, all candidates must possess a grade 5 or higher pass certificate of MUSON or any other recognized music examining body.
For candidates without the MUSON or any recognized examining body certificate, MUSON may consider such candidates for admission if he/she possesses outstanding practical ability in the opinion of the jury, but such candidate must enroll in MUSON remedial course in their first year to meet the requirement if accepted.
All application are expected to be received on or before 6th August, 2019

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by 14th August, 2019 and given an examination number for the examination, audition and interview. The successful candidates will thereafter be invited for addition into the prestigious MUSON Diploma course.
Please note that MUSON holds the sole prerogative in the final selection of candidates. All the students admitted to the Diploma course automatically receives the MTNF Scholarships.

MTN Foundation has taken the MUSON Diploma course as one of its nationwide projects and remains the one of the driving forces . The course offers students advanced training in music with the following majors; Piano, Organ, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion, Classical Guitar, Voice.
The Diploma School is the home of the award-winning MUSON Diploma Choir directed by Sir Emeka Nwokedi and the MUSON School Orchestra & Concert Bands. The school has graduated over 300 students since 2008.
